Housing advice

Housing problems can lead to homelessness if they are not dealt with at an early stage. Homelessness is preventable, but only if action is taken before the situation gets worse. The role of the Housing Options Advisers is to try and prevent homelessness by helping people to sort out problems before they become too serious and by encouraging them to consider what housing options they may have.  The advisers also act as a signposting service to help you access any specialist help you require.

For many people, housing problems begin because of financial difficulties. If you don't have much money it can be difficult to find a decent home and if you can't pay the rent or mortgage you could face eviction. Whatever your situation, you should get advice immediately if you are having problems paying for your accommodation. Being threatened with eviction doesn't necessarily mean that you will lose your home - it may be possible to sort things out, even if the bailiffs are on the way.

If you are in need of help, you should contact the Housing Options Team on 0845 129 8075 to discuss your situation in more detail and if necessary, arrange an interview.  Interviews usually take place at our offices.  Home visits can be arranged if you are unable to get to the offices.
