High Peak Community Housing's Board of Management is made up of 5 tenants, 5 Borough Councillors and 5 independent members.

Tenant Board Members

 

Agnes Bradley
Chair

Agnes is a tenant board member and lives in Whaley Bridge. She was elected to the Chair of the Board at the November 2006 board meeting.

She is retired and enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. A firm believer in the decent homes standard for everyone, she involves herself in helping High Peak Community Housing to achieve this aim.

She also believes that HPCH should be run in an efficient and constructive way with a dedicated board and staff, and envisages the future to be a challenge, but is confident the company will continue to be successful.

 

John Prince

John has a lot of experience working with tenants, especially the elderly and disabled, as he is himself disabled.

He is a believer in the quality of life for ethnic groups and pensioners, and he believes in equal rights.

In his opinion it is good to involve tenants to have a say, and time to stop the Council wasting money on make-do jobs and do a thorough job first rather than last.


  Roger
Wilkinson
Roger has been a Council Tenant for 26 years. He has always taken an active role in the community where he lives. He is now in his second term of office as a tenant board member at High Peak Community Housing.
He sits on the Management Committee of Glossopdale Furniture Project, is a board member of Glossop Volunteer Bureau, and he has been a School Governor at both the Duke of Norfolk and Simmondley Primary Schools for many years. He has also been involved for many years with Whitfield Community Centre and is a member of Gliossop Community Transport Management Committee.

He is an Associate member of Pennine Care Mental health Trust board, a member of the Peak District Local Access Forum and a member of the Peak District National Park Authority. He is also a member of Derbyshire Fire Authority and an elected member of High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council where he is vice-chair of the Healthier Community Security Committee.

Jacqui
Wilkinson

Born and brought up in Glossop, Jacqui is married with grown up children and grandchildren. She has been a Council Tenant for 26yrs.
 
Jacqui one of the five Council nominees, was elected to High Peak Borough Council in 1992 and since that time always taken and interest in housing issues. Chair of Leisure services, from 1995 to 2000, then Executive member with responsibility for Housing and Community Safety until 2003. Jacqui was at the for-front of setting up the High Peak Community Housing Company

Jacqui has also served on numerous voluntary community groups and is at present a school governor at Padfield Primary School. Jacqui says that housing is not just about the buildings it’s about the environment in which we live. We should be able to feel safe and proud of our neighbourhoods and communities.

 

 

Linda
Leather

Linda has lived in Whaley bridge for 30 Years, and is a registered manager for a domiciliary home care provider in the Stockport area. She has previously worked for the NHS at Stepping Hill Hospital. She undertakes the moving and handling training, induction training and other core skill training for care staff and has worked closely with Ridge Danyers College.
Linda has two grown up sons and 4 grandchildren. She is currently chair of Whaley Bridge Town Council and has been a Borough Councillor for nearly 4 years. She is currently Chair of Whaley Bridge regeneration Partnership, Regeneration and Partnership.

Linda is especially interested in affordable housing and ensuring that local residents receive a responsive repairs service.


 

Marie
Foote

Marie has lived in Hadfield for over 11 years with her husband and family, who are now grown up.

She was a Conservative Councillor on Tameside MBC as the elected member for the Hurst Ward of Ashton Under Lyne where she was a member of the Housing Committee.

Marie’s other interests include current affairs, reading, crosswords and taking care of their elderly dog.

John
Pritchard

John is now retired having worked in the Computer industry for over 40 years. He moved to the High Peak in the late 1960’s and was honoured to serve as Mayor of the Borough of High Peak in 1989.

John has been a councillor since 1971, and has served on many Committees and Outside bodies. He held the Community and Social Development portfolio during 2003 to 2007. High Peak Borough Council was accredited as an Excellent Council in 2004, and (joint) Council of the Year in 2007. John established the Friends of Whaley Bridge Station Group in 2006, the group won First prize in the National Community Rail Awards in 2007 in the Best Station Adoption Group category.

John has a grown up son and daughter who both live in Oxford. His hobbies include walking, gardening and watching football and cricket. John also completed 53 marathons before retiring in 1992.




Independent Board Members

 

Christine
Davies

Christine has worked in housing most of her life, either on the practical side in local authority housing departments or housing associations. She was Director of a feudal rural local authority housing department in Sussex in the 1970s from where she moved to teach at what is now Sheffield Hallam University. She developed the first Housing Studies Degree in the country. Finishing at Sheffield in 1989 she became an inspector of housing courses and a housing consultant specialising in research on housing needs studies.

Having lived abroad for 5 years she picked up knowledge of housing in other countries and had fun attending international conferences. She hopes that this varied experience is being useful to High Peak Community Housing. Her particular interests are creating equal opportunities in housing and promoting the cause of the older members of the community.


 

Simon
Rogers

Simon has lived in Glossop since 1984. He has almost 30 years Housing experience working across a range of service areas such as front line housing management, policy development and investment management for both public and private sector stock.

Simon is currently Chief Executive officer of a West Yorkshire ALMO and would like to see his home town ALMO grow and develop and become an organisation of excellence.
His hobbies include running, hill walking and cycling. He is also a coach at Glossop Cricket Club.

 

 

John
Ardern

John has worked in Local Government and housing for the last 24 years.
Previously he worked in HR and organisation development. He moved into his current role as Head of Business Improvement at New Charter Housing in 2002.
John enjoys fishing and has 2 dogs, He also enjoys spending time in North Wales where he has a holiday home.


 

Awaad
Rashed

Awwad Rashed is professionally qualified Chartered Certified Accountant F.C.C.A with a degree in Economics and many years experience at a senior management level within the corporate and charity sectors.

During the past 15 years he has developed a strong background in taxation, auditing, treasury, budgeting, planning and business development at both a practical and strategic level. Currently, Awaad is the Group Head of Business planning at Great Places Housing Group one of the largest Housing Groups in the North of England. Awaad is also a founder and director of Manchester Medical Management Limited and a founder of SARKS Accountants a practice that specialise in establishing and running small businesses.

As a new member who has lived an worked in the area for several years, and enjoyed it so much he appreciates the opportunity to assist in the provision of providing the best possible housing services to the community.


 

Peter
Glover

On completion of his studies at the University of Bradford he spent his early career coordinating urban regeneration projects in Edinburgh and Midlothian. In 1987 Peter was appointed Deputy Director of Housing for Berwickshire District Council. He has been Director of Development and Property Services of Equity Housing Group since October 1989.
He is married with three daughters. He is a keen cyclist, hill walker and regular tennis player.
